Ghanaians have condemned Akua Donkor, the founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) for claiming that Akufo-Addo killed the late Major Maxwell Mahama.
According to several social media reports, Madam Donkor, on Friday, attended the burial of the late soldier at the State House in Accra, where she was asked by an Adom FM journalist to state her impressions of the event. Madam Donkor is said to have responded by shouting into the microphone that Akufo-Addo killed Major Mahama.
The bizzare accusation, according to the social media reports, forced the journalist to halt the interview immediately. The episode prompted some Ghanaians to viciously attack Madam Donkor on social media. Some of them suggested that the GFP founder required psychiatric examination.
Other social media users directed their verbal fire at the journalist who interviewed Madam Donkor.
Captain Mahama was lynched by a mob at Denkyira-Obuasi after he was mistaken for an armed robber. His killing provoked a firestorm of condemnation and outrage from members of the public. He was buried on Friday at the military section of the Osu Cemetary after a burial service at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
