The Wenchi Magistrate Court presided over by Her Worship Vivian Yamusa has sentenced 18-year old Enoch Acheampong to 20 imprisonments for stealing
Inspector Victor Samadji told the court that on 6th December 2017, a complainant in the case Damoah Gad Solomon who deals in mobile phones and accessories at Nkonsia in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, locked his container along Wenchi –Techiman highway after close of work and went home.
He returned to work the following morning to realize the shop had been burgled through the ceiling with 13 assorted mobile phones and accessories and 3 MP3 earphones valued GH₵3580 missing.
The complainant was later hinted that some persons were offering some phones and accessories for sale and immediately lodged a complaint with the police leading to the arrest of Enoch Acheampong a.k.a Nana Kofi an 18-year unemployed and his accomplice Justice Kwaku Yeaboah, a 20-years JHS were arrested.
Upon interrogation, Enoch Acheampong a.k.a Nana Kofi admitted to committing the crime and were arraigned before the court.
The trial judge in his ruling, slapped a fine GH₵240 on Justice Kwaku Yeboah in whose room the exhibits were kept for dishonestly taking custody of stolen items.
Enoch Acheampong a.k.a Nana Kofi was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment and also fined GH₵240 or in default spend additional 8 months in prison
